Grasses/Groundcover

Most of us have a spot that just needs to be covered up.  Find the right grass or groundcover and you can transform an eyesore into a lush, low-maintenance patch.

Perennials

Perennials are frequently flowering and can add a splash of color and texture to your garden.  In addition to looking good, perennials serve as important pollinator plants that attract butterflies and other insects that are beneficial to our local wildlife.  Many perennials like a sunny spot, but some are more shade tolerant than others.  Unlike annuals that need to be removed each year, a well-placed perennial will bring you joy for many years to come.

Landscape Plants

Landscape plants, along with trees, form the foundation of many gardens.  These plants are often larger and longer living than perennials.  Landscape plants can be found in shady and sunny spots.  Find the right plants for your conditions and be rewarded with a long-lasting, low-maintenance landscape.

House/Porch Plants

House and porch plants are a wonderful way to bring interest to your indoor and outdoor ‘living’ rooms.  Like humans, these plants are often sensitive to extreme heat and cold, while too much light can ‘burn’ them.

Iris/Lily/Crinum

Iris, lily, and crinum are bulb plants that share a sword-shaped leaf that punctuates any garden-scape.  The real thrill of these plants are their exotic flowers, some with an equally exotic scent.  In the right conditions, these clumping plants grow themselves, rewarding the gardener with thicker growth and the opportunity for dividing.

Veggies/Herbs

There has never been a better time to grow Goodwood vegetables and herbs.  Not only are these plants good for you, but also you don’t have to go to the market to get them!  With adequate sun and moisture, these plants can thrive in pots or in the ground.  Many garden centers design containers that include edibles, proving that beauty can be more than skin deep.

Ferns

One word hardly does justice to a group of plants that can grow in a wide variety of conditions while providing such a diversity of sizes, shapes, and colors.  We are lucky that Tallahassee weather supports so many interesting ferns, a number of which can be found at Goodwood, and can be part of your landscape, too.

Roses

These heirloom roses bring the past alive in your garden. Some varieties are large climbers that like to grow on a fence or trellis. Bush varieties with do well in full to part sun.

Trees

Bartlett Tree Experts have donated many healthy young saplings that are potted in 1 gallon pots. Your purchase will help Goodwood take care of the many mature specimans on site.
